Privacy Policy
Effective date: February 20, 2026
FlawFerret (“the Extension”) is a Chrome extension that helps users capture QA context and create Jira tickets faster. This Privacy Policy explains what data is processed, how it is used, and your choices.
1. What FlawFerret Does
FlawFerret captures user-selected webpage context (such as selected text, element metadata, screenshots, and optional recordings) to help create Jira issues.
The Extension only acts when you trigger it.
2. Data We Process
Depending on how you use FlawFerret, the Extension may process:
Selected webpage text and element context
Current page URL and title
Optional screenshot/snippet captured by you
Optional tab recording captured by you
Jira configuration values (for example, Jira base URL, email, API token) entered by you
Optional AI provider settings (OpenAI API key or Ollama endpoint/model) entered by you
3. How Data Is Used
Data is used only to provide the Extension’s core functionality:
Build and format bug report content
Generate Gherkin scenarios (including AI generation if enabled by you)
Create Jira tickets through Jira APIs
Store your preferences/settings locally in Chrome extension storage
4. Data Sharing
FlawFerret does not sell personal data.
Data is sent only to services you explicitly configure/use:
Atlassian Jira when creating issues
OpenAI API only if you enable OpenAI generation
Ollama endpoint only if you enable Ollama generation
No unrelated third-party data sharing is intended.
5. Data Retention
FlawFerret is designed for minimal retention:
Settings are stored locally in your browser profile.
Captured content is used for your active workflow and issue creation.
You can clear stored extension data at any time by removing extension data or uninstalling FlawFerret.
6. User Control
You control when FlawFerret runs and what it captures.
You can:
Choose which project/issue is created in Jira
Use or disable AI generation
Remove stored settings
Uninstall the extension at any time
7. Security
We aim to follow reasonable security practices. However, no method of storage or transmission is 100% secure. You are responsible for protecting your own Jira/API credentials.
8. Children’s Privacy
FlawFerret is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect children’s personal information.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy over time. Updates will be posted with a new effective date.
